"Offering a classical music version of electric rock music is a real challenge. Success stories such as Phil Spector's orchestrations, the Beach Boys or the Andrew Loog Oldham Orchestra immediately come to mind. The idea with Denner was to use the form of the lied, which is typical of german romantic music and reorchestrate it to fit the standards of a cold wave album.
I had to channel the energy of the band and infuse it into a more academic approach of songwriting (written music). I was inspired by Wagner's Wesensdonck Lieder cycle. It helped me find the link between popular and scholarly music. On a musical level, instead of reproducing the major and minor modes which are present on Denner’s original albums "Nouvelle-Bretagne" (2010) and "Drifting Canticles" (2017), I used modal music which has always been part of my identity as a composer."

This is stellar. Uplifting melancholy, so sad at its core yet gorgeous melodies and a beautiful, sensitive voice that builds the bridge towards other delicate emotions. Just the right dose of bliss, wistfulness and hope. Comforting choruses. Great lyrics. Something to hold on to in these troubling times. Entleiber

Stunning album and artist. Dark love. The best dark vibes in genre. I prefer the first works because they are darker than the last. We're waiting for her come back. Get well soon. raulmori
Situationist coldwave from France that is deliciously icy, high-drama vampire vocals colliding with icy synth & guitar. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 7, 2021
